A day in the life and home of a child in an informal settlement

I woke up and I had little food for breakfast and didn’t really enjoy it. After breakfast I walked to school first I have to walk out of my village, I really don’t like It because it full of trash. I left  very early because my school is far away. When I got to school my feet we’re paining by the time I walked into the classroom I was relieved when I sat down. My teacher put us into groups to share the few text books we had but that took a long time because they’re are 80 children in my class. I was put at the back of the class and couldn’t hear what the teacher was saying. We started with Maths which was a bit hard because I couldn’t hear everything my teacher said. After maths it was break time but I didn’t have everything to eat so the school gave me something to eat and I was exhilarated.

At the end of the day I walked back home with no transportation. When I was walking home I found some money to take the bus instead of walking. I was thrilled that I didn’t have to walk all the way back home. When I got home I had to try and make me supper from the food we had because my mom and dad weren’t home yet they only come home at 9:00. After my supper I got a blanket lay it down on the ground and then lay down and slept. I couldn’t wait until the next day because I was moving in to a new better home

The next day was moving day I was moving into my new home. It has a vegetable garden and
proper bed not just a blanket. I was delighted when I saw it it had lots of a marvelous stuff. But I still hope that one day I can get a proper house and go to a better school.
